  1. We ONLY hire professionals who have multiple years' experience working in animal hospitals or animal rescue and rehabilitation.

  2. Offer a free consultation for new clients and we sign a service agreement with each client

  3. Provide a written estimate for client approval before each set of appointments

  4. Carry bonding and liability insurance, with additional "care, custody, and control" coverage for pets in our care

  5. Serve one household at a time
    (no “pack” dog walking)

  6. Avoid interaction with others outdoors (no dog park visits, no greeting other animals)

  7. Provide the primary care for animals in our charge (no sharing responsibilities with neighbors or other parties)

  8. Visit at least once a day while pet sitting (no skipped days between appointments)

  9. Obey local ordinances regarding leashes, pet waste pickup and disposal, and pet vaccinations

  10. Maintain membership in National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) and Pet Sitters International (PSI)

Our President is a Pet Owner, Too

Alexandria Pet Care, Inc. is owned and managed by Alexandria resident Elizabeth Legere. As a child, her love for animals started at the family farm where she learned to ride horses, care for cows and feed ducks.

Her past pets have included Heidi the Affenpinscher, S’mut the Lilac-point Siamese, Shag the Bouvier des Flandres and numerous hamsters who found that the best chances for escape were during holiday parties.

Elizabeth currently has two Portuguese Water Dogs, Nutmeg and Bailey, who love hiking, swimming and eating carrots.
